Today's Snippet: 06/08/74 PITB>WR>PITB |
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1974-06-08.sbd.miller.97268.sbeok.flac16OK, this is for the folks who maybe only have a few minutes to get themselves going this AM. Head straight for the Playin>Wharf Rat>Playin combo and pay particular attention to the jam out of WR into Playin'. Jerry whips out a sound eerily similar to Duane A in Dreams. Haunting and pristine.
Now the entire show is fantastic, including one of those amazing 74 Eyes that I never tire of, but I'm aware few of you have time to go through an entire performance on a weekday, so I thought I'd just save you some time and point out the meaty section.
Crap. Consider the barn door now wide open, Mr. Tell and Smith.

No kidding about this Playing. You know they are "on" so to speak, when Phil announces his presence in the first four minutes. He is preparing them for blast off and saying "let's go for it, let reach for that astral plane on this one." Love going on those types of rides with them on stuff like this. This is one I would have loved to have witnessed. I would not have been yelling "turn Phil up" that often I at this one I imagine. Peace.
